How to get into the mortgage industry (without becoming a broker)
Most people who want a mortgage career assume they have to become a broker. They don’t. Loan processing - supporting a broker by preparing and packaging loans - is the faster, no-licence, salaried way in. Many of today’s brokers started exactly this way.
The roles in the industry
Beyond broking, the industry runs on support roles: loan processor, broker assistant, loan administrator and parabroker. These are real, in-demand jobs that don’t require a Cert IV or a credit licence.
Why start as a loan processor
- No licence or Cert IV needed to start
- A salary from day one - not commission you have to build
- You learn the whole industry from the inside
- It’s in demand - every busy broker needs a great processor
